Where Are Singapore's Biggest Petrol Discounts?
Many drivers spend time comparing petrol credit cards, but one factor is often missed: where you choose to refuel. In Singapore, headline fuel prices may look similar across major brands, yet the effective amount you pay can vary considerably when station discounts, loyalty promotions and local campaigns are taken into account.
Some stations consistently offer larger upfront discounts than others — this is especially true of the smaller, independently run networks that compete almost entirely on price, and of stations that run their own promotions on top of the standard card discounts. Knowing where these “fuel-saving hotspots” tend to appear can help you trim your pump bill before your bank rebate is even applied.
Here are some of the places worth watching when you are looking for the best value at the pump.
1. Smaller players with the deepest discounts (Cnergy and Smart Energy)
The deepest baseline discounts in Singapore do not come from the major multinational oil companies. They belong to two smaller, independently run networks — Cnergy and Smart Energy — that compete almost entirely on price rather than brand loyalty or card tie-ins.
Cnergy
Cnergy, a home-grown brand owned by Union Gas Holdings, has reshaped the market with aggressive pricing at its three stations.
The locations: Cnergy operates three high-traffic stations at Cnergy Dunman (743 Dunman Rd), Cnergy Queensway (260 Queensway), and Cnergy Toh Tuck (50 Old Toh Tuck Rd).
The discount vibe: while mainstream networks often require you to navigate complex bank-card tiers for price cuts, Cnergy offers substantial independent price drops directly at the counter. Membership costs a one-time $5 fee and unlocks a further discount on top of Cnergy's already-below-market walk-in price for RON 95. Private-hire and taxi drivers often get even deeper concessions. Because pump prices here move frequently, check Cnergy's Facebook or Instagram page for the current rate before you go rather than relying on a fixed figure.
The catch: because the network is limited to just three locations islandwide, expect notable queues during peak commuter rush hours.
Smart Energy
Smart Energy is a smaller, self-service network that has quietly run some of the lowest listed prices on the island since 2009, alongside CNG and diesel refuelling.
The locations: Smart Energy runs four stations — Smart Energy Mandai (1 Mandai Link, petrol RON 95, diesel, and CNG), Smart Energy Jalan Buroh (33 Jalan Buroh, petrol RON 95/RON 98 and diesel), Smart Energy Queensway (264 Queensway, the newest outlet), and Smart Energy Defu (7 Defu Lane 4, diesel only).
The discount vibe: a prepaid Energy Card (from $3–$5 depending on outlet) unlocks member pricing on top of an already-discounted non-member rate — Smart Energy advertises 25% off listed prices without the card and 28.75% off with it. Stations also run a daily Happy Hour from 12am to 6:30am with an additional 5% off all fuels, and occasional flash promotions (Smart Energy has run one-day discounts as steep as 40% for members on special occasions).
The catch: you'll need to top up the card in advance (cash, NETS, or credit card, with a minimum top-up), and prices aren't listed on price-comparison apps like Price Kaki — check Smart Energy's own website for current rates. The Defu outlet is diesel-only and uses a separate card from the other three stations.
2. Sinopec stations with large upfront discounts
Sinopec has become known for running some of the stronger station-specific promotions in Singapore. Rather than relying only on card partnerships, selected stations can offer substantial instant savings directly at the pump.
Weekend offers and temporary promotions can make Sinopec especially appealing for drivers who are not using a specialised fuel card. In some cases, the station discount alone may already be larger than the regular card reward available elsewhere.
Locations that often attract attention include:
Because these offers can change quickly, it is worth checking the latest prices before you head out.
Where can you save the most?
| Location type | Popular brands | Typical advantage | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Independent networks | Cnergy, Smart Energy | Deepest baseline prices, often well below mainstream stations even before any card discount | Drivers near one of their few stations, or without a specialised fuel card |
| Sinopec locations | Sinopec | Frequent large upfront station promotions | Motorists chasing maximum instant savings |
Always compare before you pump
Fuel promotions in Singapore can change every few days. A station that looks cheapest one week may not be the best value the next, especially once a new bank promotion or station campaign kicks in.
Before filling up, compare the latest pump prices, station discounts and your eligible card savings. A quick check can easily save several dollars on a full tank, and those savings add up over the course of a year.
At PumpWhere, we track petrol prices across Singapore and help motorists compare station discounts, card promotions and effective pump prices in one place, making it easier to find the best value before every refuel.
